Nika Fleissig, née Bronislawa Felicja Kohn, survived the Holocaust as a young woman. Her daughter, Rabbi Alicia Fleissig Magal, wrote of her mother's miraculous survival in a book entitled "From Miracle to Miracle: A Story of Survival." It was translated into Polish and distributed to schools and dialogue groups in Krakow and Warsaw.
Nika is now 97 years old, still vibrant, elegant, humorous, and inspiring. She speaks to school groups about her experiences and offers the advice, "Follow your passion. Be excellent at some skill, and create your own path." She currently resides in Sedona, Arizona in the winter months, and in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts from June through September.
How did someone who lost her entire family start her life anew? How did art enable her healing? What messages for living life did she give to her children and grandchildren?
Readers of this book have commented that they were amazed at NIka's resilience, touched by the connection between the generations, and were inspired to look at how they overcame challenges in their own lives.
